I hope they grow up to love their hair...
I was looking through my Flickr and found this photo. My students loved my hair. Nearing the end of last school year I finally agreed to let them style it, my colleague decided it was a Kodak moment.

Today's hair-Frohawk
Style: Fro-Hawk
Approximate time to complete: 30 mins (not including twistout)
Products Used: AmPro Clear gel (not including twistout products)
Tools Used: My fingers, Lots o' bobby pins and a brush
Reason for style: Inspired by KinksCoilsCurls YouTube vid and extending the life of a twistout.
Lessons Learned: I need Eco Styler Gel and my hair may have more body but not as much as I thought. I had to "hold" up the crown area with pins at the root.

Are we Blogalicious?
I'm a fairly new blogger but no one told me about this:
A convention for women bloggers of color! I'm already in Atlanta. I may just have to be there.

Why we all had a perm
I was recently sent a link to a video. It made me understand why many of us to hated our hair.
There are many natural hair rules broken while combing the child in the videos hair:
-her hair is bone dry, with a few squirts of detangling spray
-her hair is being styled with a plastic vented brush, she says"I don"t want that brush."
-she is being cursed by the "stylist"
-she is being teased off camera about her behavior and hair texture
-her hair is not sectioned/braided/clipped
-her hair is all out and being brushed hard
-the word demon is used in relation to the experience
-the child is crying and saying she hates the stylist
-another child is told menacingly they are next
-negative references are made to the child's curls

My hair last night.
I two-strand twisted my hair, then while it was still damp made bantu knots. (The Hello Kitty mini clip matches my Hello Kitty shirt.)
