Shea Butter: White and Yellow

I thought I'd share this short and informative video because people often seem confused about the differences between the different colors of shea butter.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion. :)

The Beauty Within

I was asked several times about this song that I featured in a YouTube video.

Tangle Teezer, do I need one?

From the Tangle Teezer website:
The Hair Science Behind Tangle TeezerTangle Teezer is the first of a new generation of detangling hairbrushes! Upon picking up Tangle Teezer you will notice the teeth aren’t like that of an ordinary brush which is where the hair genius comes in. The unique configuration of specifically designed teeth flex just the right amount to detangle and help smooth the hair’s cuticle which in turn protects the inner cortex from damage.

Using the Tangle Teezer will ensure your hair will appear more lustrous by minimizing cuticle damage which in turn will help colour last and reduce the risk of fading. The hair shaft is also better prepared for the onslaught of damaging heat from styling tools. That’s why we like to call it first aid for hair.

I've read numerous reviews, blog entries and YouTube videos. The consensus is that the Tangle Tamer is great. A lady who describes herself as a"lazy hair enthusiast" says this on Long Haircare Forum:
"I used to use fingers, then wide tooth comb, then denman to detangle my wet hair under running water, with conditioner on- mind you.

Now I just use the Teezer by itself, starting at the bottom and after 4-5 runs through, each section is tangle free. No wide tooth comb, no finger combing, no nothing. I even tried it on detangling dry hair and it worked."

She sounds like my kind of lady, honest about the amount of effort she puts in. My hair is getting to be quite a handful, any help detangling would be a boon.
So what do you think? Do I need the next big thing?

Pura Body Naturals product testing.

I was invited to test Pura Body Naturals at Juiceez and Etc by Atlanta Naturally Fierce. The creator Santeyonne Powell was as charming and approachable as she was knowledgeable and creative. Her products were inspired by her own sensitive skin issues and natural hair journey. Her products can be used on skin and hair and have oil and butter bases.

I tried the Cupuacu Hair Butter, Murumuru Moisture Milk, Rosewater and Grapeseed Facial Moisturizer and two unnamed products: Hair Butter #2 and Hair Lotion #1. All the products were exceptional. Just applying them left my hands soft and moisturized.

Murumuru Moisture Milk

This milk made from the exotic murmuru butter softens hair instantly.

Hair Milk #2

Softened hair like the MMM but had a more moisturizing effect.

Cupuacu Hair Butter

Softened and moisturized in a heartier way as opposed to the lighter milks. I was inspired to twist my hair on the spot after applying the hair milk and butter.

Hair Butter #2

Smelled deliciously nutty and had a truly buttery texture. I loved it and asked to take home the sample. It softened moisturized and gave the hair a beautiful shine.

The event was excellent and I felt honored to have been invited. Santyonne plans a sale in November. She also makes mineral make-up.

Pura Body Naturals have a blog and FaceBook page.

Sage Naturalceuticals

Owner - Cindy Prim

On July 31, I attended an invitational blogger event at Sage Naturalceuticals. Sage Naturalceutical is a boutique that caters to natural hair. The owner, Cindy Prim, carries products that are all natural and designed for curly and kinky hair. She carries many lines that aren't widely available in stores. I loved the chance to smell and touch the entire AfroVeda, Komaza Care, Uncle Funky's Daughter, Darcy's Botanicals and Blended Beauty lines.

CurlyTop Lori

I was invited through CurlyTop Lori who also acted as a hair model that day. We were treated to a demonstration of four curl defining products: Donna Marie MiraCurl, Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic, Komaza Care Coconut Curl Pudding and Darcy's Botanicals Natural Coils Curling Jelly. All products and their accompanying lines are available at Sage.

Sage Naturalceuticals is a great place because the best way to save money is to buy products you like. At Sage, you have the chance to demo many products that can be pricey if they aren't ultimately what you like.

Sage gets five of five Knaps for easy accessibility(metro Atlanta) and the opportunity to try before you buy. Additionally, the products are paraben, sulfate and all other known yuckies free. :)
